Newly leaked documents suggest that the Trump White House may be directly involved in orchestrating covert influence operations targeting Americans within the United States, using supposedly independent organizations as cover to conceal the White House’s involvement.

The documents — screenshots of which were shared on X by Gabrielle Cuccia, a MAGA influencer who says she was fired from her job at One America News Network (OANN) last year for criticizing Pete Hegseth — make an extraordinary claim, alleging that actors connected to a government-linked counter-disinformation and counter-extremism ecosystem were mapping ideological communities, monitoring “dissident” influencers, experimenting with messaging and engagement testing, discussing the use of burner accounts and AI-generated media, and seeking ways to shape domestic political behavior through “ideological audience segmentation” while avoiding the appearance of direct government involvement.

The leaked documents paint a pretty damning picture that is strikingly similar to the Cambridge Analytica scandal, except this time it’s coming directly from the White House and being powered by AI.
