Join my new subscriber chat
A space for us to connect and talk. Kind of like Twitter — but without the Elon Musk-imposed censorship. Epistemic Superpredators welcome.
Today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication: the Weaponized subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — a hybrid environment that will be part group chat/live hangout, and part discussion thread/message board. It’s not a coincidence that I’m rolling this out in the midst of turmoil at Twitter that has left many users without a “home,” or at least without a home where they are comfortable, feel safe and welcome, and are inspired to talk about issues that actually matter — and perhaps most importantly, to hear from diverse voices without every discussion turning into a gamified cage match. I want this small community to be a shelter from the war of words — a place where you come to take off your armor and have genuine conversations, but also where you come to prepare yourself for the battlefield. I may be an epistemic superpredator, but even supervillains need a space to chill.
I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion with your thoughts, questions, ideas, and whatever else is on your mind. Some of these chats will be in real-time; others will just be open-ended, ongoing discussion threads that you can participate in at any time. You’ll get a chance to ask me questions and tell me what you’re thinking about and seeing in your corner of the Internet, and I’ll help you navigate the minefield of social media and other weaponized spaces. I’ll also share personal and professional advice based on my experiences existing in and studying many of these hostile environments. We all have to get through this battlefield, so why not get through it together?
I hope you’ll join us.
Make sure to check your notifications on the Substack app, because that’s how you’ll find out about the latest chat.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
