“Even Better Than Expected”: Russian Propaganda Outlets Tout Successful Talks With US Lawmakers
Russian and U.S. lawmakers discussed removing sanctions and returning diplomatic properties to Russia, state media reported.
Russian propaganda outlets are touting the “success” of the talks held this week between a group of sanctioned Russian lawmakers and five members of Congress.
Across a dozen state media outlets and social media accounts, the talks were portrayed as “historic” and game-changing, with Russia using the invitation to come to the U.S. as a way to rehabilitate its own image.
The meeting between the Russian delegation and U.S. lawmakers was organized by GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a pro-Russia lawmaker and key node in Russia’s U.S.-facing propaganda network.
